A trailer for the recent Lucky 8 Production FUN ON EARTH, a short film starring Alexi Wasser and Sterling Jones.

FUN UPD8TE:

• JULY ‘09 - Honored to be at Montréal’s awesome FANTASIA festival this month. Film has been invited to and/or solicited by many cool fests. More info soon!

• MAY ‘09 - It’s CANNES!

• APRIL ‘09 - FUN at Sci-Fi-London - Earth-city of my birth! Great guests and line-up at this fest, a good scene - wish I could be there!

• MARCH ‘09 - Excited to announce that FOE has been accepted at the 27th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, just a classic of its kind, as well as the founder of the potent “European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation”. FUN will sport its fancy new French subtitles for the affair. We have Spanish subtitles ready as well. After appx 20 festivals Stateside, the focus is now on international venues … as well as new projects to be announced soon!

• JAN/FEB ‘09 - Happy New Year Earthlings! FUN’s festival parade continues in January with Festivus in Denver, CO. Then in February it’s L.A.’s Show Off Your Short Film Festival (where FOE is nominated for “Best Sci-Fi Short”) and the San Francisco Independent Film Festival, another boomin’ event with a sweet logo!sfffestivus_gfx.jpgnewfilmmakers-la-logo-1.jpg
• NOVEMBER ‘08 - Festival excitement continues this month as FUN goes global! First Radar Hamburg, a cool up-and-coming festival where we’re nominated for “Best Short Film”; then the very auspicious science+fiction Fest in Trieste, Italy! Would have LOVED to attend either of these but it just can’t happen at this time so I’ll have to be satisfied by gazing at their beautiful websites! Back Stateside it’s the snowy Mammoth Film Festival and then NewFilmmakers at the Sunset Gower Studios. I love this lot (hung out there a lot while shooting a doc about Six Feet Under - plus this fest is happening right now) so am particularly psyched about this screening. chinese.jpg
• OCTOBER ‘08 - It’s been a great experience attending festivals with the short. I love the response it’s getting and have been very impressed by the films it has shared screens with. October, by weird co-incedence, is dedicated to the “Genre” festival. (The label doesn’t really mean much - these are some of the coolest fests around!) The month starts in style with Screamfest at the Chinese on Sunset Strip; then to Washington DC (home of my cousin Chris who was instrumental in the making of the film - thanks Chris & Cathy!) for Spooky Movie: 2008; followed by the beautifully named Thriller! Chiller Film Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and, that same weekend, the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival which is a part of the highly regarded Phoenix Film Festival and I am looking forward to it. Finally, on Halloween night, it’s back in Hollywood for Shockfest. This promises to be a memorable evening, with a costume competition and burlesque dancer “Little Miss Vicious” in full effect. What a planet we’ve found ourselves on!

• SEPTEMBER ‘08 - Festival screenings this month: Santa Monica Film Festival, Metaphysical Film Festival, and the San Diego Film Festival! FUN also won an Honorable Mention from the prestigious Accolade competition. And next month we are honored to be part of LA’s Screamfest! More on that and other fests soon, but meanwhile check out our brand new trailer above (and download larger here!).

• MARCH ‘08 - FUN DVD’s are finally done. Thanks to Stefanie Barth at Stiletto Industries for her beautiful work on the packaging (she did the titles for the film as well).

• FUN ON EARTH had its first public/”focus group” screening on August 10th, 2007 at the Topanga Film Festival. It was great to watch it unspool in the same ‘hood where it was written, rehearsed and produced! Based on that screening, though, we went back and reworked some of the editing as well as the soundtrack.
